YOUR FAVOURITE WORLDS

Minecraft and Terraria.
One place to manage them.

Keep your worlds in a local library. Pick the software and version for each one, then manage its files, settings and backups.

Minecraft Java

Start with Vanilla, add plugins with Paper, or use a supported mod loader. Compatibility depends on your version.

Terraria and tModLoader

Create a Terraria world or a modded tModLoader adventure, with controls built for the game.

A FEW LESS THINGS TO FIGURE OUT

Your worlds. Clear controls.

Mods and plugins

Browse compatible addons and manage what you install. Catalogs and requirements vary by game.

Console and players

Read server output, send commands and see the Minecraft player list while your server runs.

Local backups

Create copies of your worlds and restore them from the app. Backups use your own disk space.

Settings that make sense

Choose memory, player access and game options without searching through every config file.

FROM SETUP TO YOUR FIRST WORLD

Play on your own.
Or make room for friends.

  1. 1

    Install Playstead

Download the Windows beta and choose where to keep your worlds.

  2. 2

    Create your world

Choose your game, version and settings. Playstead prepares the server files.

  3. 3

    Connect Playit and share

For supported builds, link your own Playit account and send friends the game address.

Your PC must stay on. Playit is an external service, requires account setup and carries the game traffic. Its routing, limits and availability apply.

TWO WAYS TO PLAY

Pick what suits your group.

On your PC: Playstead

Use your own hardware. Your worlds, backups and server processes stay on your computer.

BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD

Questions, answered.

Does the server run on my PC?

Yes. Playstead manages local server processes and stores your worlds and backups on your computer. Your PC and Playstead must stay on while people play. ChunkArc does not host these worlds. Downloads, updates and optional integrations still use the Internet.

Do my friends need Playstead?

No. They join with a compatible game client. For Internet play on supported builds, connect your own Playit account and share the game address shown in the app. Playit is an external service; its availability, routing, latency and limits apply.

Do I need to open router ports?

The Playit connection for supported builds does not require manual router port forwarding. Linking your account and setting up the connection are still required. Some networks or game builds may not work with that connection.

Which games and versions can I use?

Create Minecraft Java, Terraria or tModLoader servers. Mod and plugin compatibility depends on the game, version and loader. Recoverable historical Minecraft Alpha, Beta and preview builds are also listed, but are currently limited to this PC without LAN or Playit. A catalog entry is not proof of gameplay testing. Classic is not available.

What do I need to install?

This beta installer is for Windows x64. You need enough RAM and disk space for the worlds you create, an Internet connection for downloads and your own compatible game client. Playstead downloads the appropriate Java runtime for Minecraft; Terraria and tModLoader use their own server components.

Why might Windows show a publisher warning?

The installer does not have a Windows Authenticode certificate. Windows may show an unrecognized-publisher warning. Download only from the official release repository and review the release notes before installing. Internal update integrity checks are separate from Windows publisher verification.

Is Playstead free, and is the source public?

Playstead is free to download during this beta. It is proprietary software, not an open-source project. The public GitHub repository distributes releases and support information, not the application source. The games and external services have their own terms.

A beta to try with care.

Keep a separate backup of worlds you care about. Some features and game versions still need more testing. The Windows installer is not Authenticode signed, and a version appearing in the catalog does not mean every client and mod combination has been tested.
